One of my favorite things about cooler weather is how S tends to wear the same mossy green jacket all the time as an overshirt, especially around the house. He's had this shirt for a long time, since we were living in Arizona, and this piece of clothing is now almost as familiar as his beloved face. I like the way he looks in it, and I am particularly fond of how he'll sometimes wrap it around both of us when he gives me a hug. Sometimes I feel like I'd just like to burrow in there and hide.
S was giving me one of those kinds of hugs this morning, and BJ came over for his share of affection. (I've been needing more hugs than usual, what with all the yuckiness going on around here -- turns out that on top of everything I've now got pinkeye too. Sigh.) BJ squeezed in right between us, the way that only a little kid can. There's something iconic about a child getting a sandwich hug from both parents, isn't there?
He then looked up and announced, "I'm hiding in Mom and Dad's love!"
This definitely makes the list of My Favorite BJ Quotes To Date.
I chuckled and said, "Well, that's where you came from, so I suppose it's a good place to hide!" And when he said, "Name what Mom said!" (demanding an explanation) I just smiled. I must be feeling at least a little better today to be making that kind of joke. Or at least I'd like to think so.
