It's a shame that I didn't make some sort of New Year's resolution to yell less at the kids or something -- because I have now lost my voice and can't speak above a whisper.
I never thought I would regret my children's love of books and reading. But now after whispering and coughing my way through several sessions of reading "aloud," I'm less than enthused when BB or BJ plunk down on my lap with a book.
BJ keeps telling me, "Momma, don't lose your voice!" He has also been trying to say "laryngitis," which is rather amusing. And BB is now doing an excellent snake impersonation. I've resorted to hissing as a way of getting attention, since I can't raise my voice, and BB immediately began to imitate me. (Though with considerably more spit involved. More of a spray than a hiss, actually.)
One gratifying development from all this -- the kids have incentive to "read" on their own, and have been doing a fair amount of it today. Something to be grateful for!
