Joe Lee

I've finally figured out who "Joe Lee" is. For weeks now, BJ has had a habit of repeating a nonsense word that sounds uncannily like "Joe Lee." He likes to repeat it while giving me one of his bobbling hugs -- the ones where he bounces the side of his head against my body. I started paying closer attention and realized he'd also say it over and over while moving his cupped hand on and off of the side of his head.

So, feeling a little foolish, I did the same thing, cupped my hand, brought it to my ear, pressed it there, and removed it. And there it was. Especially if repeated in a rhythmic pattern, the changing pressure against the ear makes a very distinctive sound -- and it sounds like it is saying "Joe Lee."

Toddlers are such fun to have around the house (when they aren't driving you crazy, as BJ currently is; he's in "rest time," but also potty training, so he's interrupted my work time four times now in the last 20 minutes with requests to use the potty. And there he is again....)
