Today was the annual playgroup Mom's Luncheon, and I'm really glad I decided to go this year. I'd gone in 2006, when BJ's playgroup year was welcomed, but I'd skipped last year. This year, only about half a dozen moms from our playgroup were there, but it was some of my favorite folks, so we had a nice time hanging out together. Yummy food, an amazing raffle (the coordinator had more than $33,000 in donated prizes!) though alas this year my luck wasn't in. I did, however, have the good fortune to present a volunteer award to A, my good friend (and co-director of our playgroup). Since I'd nominated her, I was asked to give a little speech about her volunteerism. I was a little nervous about speaking in front of hundreds of people, but it worked out fine and was fun to be able to surprise A like that.
When my folks were in town, Mom took me shopping, and she had to do a little persuading in order to convince me to get the dress that I wore today. I hadn't looked this presentable in quite some time! Even had random strangers asking me where I'd bought my dress, which says something. Thanks so much, Mom, for talking me into it -- I'm really glad you did!
