Ducklings

On Saturday afternoon, we joined our friends L and J in a quest for ducklings. S came along, too, which allowed us to be daring and hike in without the stroller.


We went to Vasona park, which turned out to be a bit ambitious, since we didn't leave until after 3:30 p.m. It was nearing dinner time by the time we'd walked around the lake and finally spotted some baby birds -- I think they were baby coots or baby grebes, not ducklings, but that was close enough.


Alas, I didn't get a chance to snap any pictures of the "ducklings".... we were really getting into meltdown territory, and had lots of ground to cover in order to make it back to the car. (And, as I mentioned, no stroller, so all of us were pretty tired by the time we got home!) But I did take some of the geese. Lots of goslings this year!


Unfortunately, J's fascination with the overhead light in the car led to a dead battery for me this morning -- I knew I should have checked to be sure it was off! But I forgot.... thank heaven for USAA's roadside service. They were at the house in less than 30 minutes!
