Saturday In the Park

BJ is feeling better, I'm happy to report, and BB hasn't shown any signs of being sick. (Knock wood!) So when both kids took early naps and woke up in decent, rested shape with several hours left before dinner, we decided to pack a picnic and head out to see some music in the park.

Blah Blah Woof Woof was onstage tonight, and what I heard of them was entertaining enough -- but since BJ clapped his hands over his ears and insisted the music was "too loud" unless we were quite some ways away, I didn't hear a whole lot. Once we found the proper spot, though, it was nice. The picnic was good, and the weather was gorgeous. BB had a great time running around and playing with my hat.
S called this look "Darth Vader Meets Sex And The City." She ran around quite competently with it totally over her face, didn't even stumble. Silly little girl.
Meanwhile, her brother was hanging out on the picnic mat (which I got for bday from S; love it!) and announcing, "I'm just going to lay down and touch the sky."
We rode the train and the carousel before the concert -- BB consented to join us this time, and her favorite conversation has already changed a bit to include this new chapter. But I think both the kids had the most fun just splashing in the stream and making pebbles kerplunk. Ah, the simple pleasures of Mother Nature.
Next time, when the weather is warmer, I'll pack a change of clothes and shoes and let them wade in a bit!
