That's the grand total to date that I have "earned" as a poet: $100 as a prize more than 15 years ago, $15 in 2001 for a poem published in ByLine Magazine, $10 in 2002 for a poem published in PanGaia, and now a $10 Amazon gift certificate for my latest entry in the weekly contest hosted by the amazing Miranda over at Creative Construction Life & Art.
Good thing I'm not relying on my writing to pay the mortgage, huh? Still, it was a lovely surprise to get the news that I'd won. The prompt was "apples," and I dusted off two old Eden poems for my entry. You can read the poems, and see the other entries, here.
And if you're a creative individual, especially a mom with a creative bent, definitely take the time to poke around the blog and consider entering the weekly contest. It's free, the prompts are fun, and the community is wonderful!

Thank you, Jen! Your Renaissance woman talents are impressive...anything you CAN'T do well?
:-)

Congratulations! I liked them both, but the end of the second one made me chuckle. Well done!
Wow, what great news! First of all congrats! I'm off to read your poem. :-)

Thanks so much for the congrats, everybody!
Miranda, you're too kind! Just don't ask me to make you an omelette or paint you a picture! Have never been able to master either, though I've tried....
