Mama Did the Drums

Busy day -- started things off right with a little get-together with A and C over at a new local library. Had a lovely time with them, as usual. Really sweet to see how well C gets along with my two short folks. (A calls them "BBC" which is pretty danged cute.) Unfortunately, the children's area ended up absolutely mobbed by the end of it -- the toddler story hour was ending, and a chaos of kids exploded from the community room all at once. So that brought things to a more abrupt conclusion than I would have liked, but it was nearing lunchtime anyway.

This afternoon, we made a quick Costco run (insomuch as a visit to Costco is EVER quick) to pick up edamame and other veggies to prepare for a potluck at BJ's preschool. It was their big welcome party for the start of the year, and they had a Family Concert, which was lots of fun. The performers were a charming and talented duo, Zun Zun. Very kid-friendly and fun. They did lots of audience participation, including a bit where they asked adults from the audience to come up and play the timbales. Before I quite knew what was happening, I found myself there with drumsticks in hand and doing a solo.
BB at least was very impressed. For the rest of the evening, she kept reminding us, "Mama did the drums! Mama did the drums!"

TOO funny, I used to work with the lead singer of Zun Zun, Gwen, YEARS ago in Santa Cruz...and they performed at Josie's wedding! (The first, unofficial one). Small world. I may still have their tape (yes, a tape!) somewhere.
