Sleepover

Last night, BB asked if she could have BJ join her in her big girl bed. She's asked this before, and the one time we tried it she kicked him out less than five minutes later, which he found pretty upsetting. The kids were both pretty bushed, so we weren't going to go for it this time. But she insisted, and then he got all enthusiastic about it, so we decided to let them give it a try.

After much negotiating and wiggling, mostly on BB's part, they finally ended up in an arrangement with BJ's head at the head of the bed and BB's head at the foot of the bed. It took about 20 minutes, but they did indeed fall asleep like this. And stayed asleep long enough for us to sneak in and take a picture about half an hour later:

Socks was quite pleased with this scenario, since it left BJ's bed wide open. In no time at all, he was curled up and content.

I'd predicted that BB would soon tire of having her brother in her space, but they both slept soundly until 1 a.m. at which point BB woke and started crying out that she wanted BJ out. S scooped up BJ and eased him into his own bed while I settled BB. BJ hardly stirred, bless his heart.

I'd wondered if they'd ask for another sleepover tonight, but they didn't. BJ fell almost immediately asleep -- he was pretty tuckered out. BB took almost an hour to get to sleep, since her naps had been thrown out of whack by the shopping trip this morning. (She fell asleep in the car while Nana and I were on the way to the mall, and the half hour of morning nap combined with a later than usual afternoon nap really messed up her schedule. But we scored a bunch of cute kids' clothes, so it was worth it.) But she showed no inclination to share her bed with anybody, including Socks. So we'll see if the sibling bed develops into a trend. Sure glad we got the pic when we had the chance!
