A good news, bad news day. The bad news is that S is still sick, coughing quite a lot, so he wasn't feeling up to heading over to the pool. Instead, BB stayed home with him at the house. The good news is that BJ had a fantastic first swim lesson, and I really got a kick out of seeing him do so well.
He had absolutely no anxieties about being in the water, clambered right down the steps into the pool until the water was at his chin. He was great about following directions and showed no hesitation at all about working with the coach. Not a single moment of fussiness or whining. Yay, BJ! (And I confess that after BB's issues yesterday, it was really nice to see my kid cooperating so well.) Several times, he said, "This is fun!" without any prompting.
The coach seemed impressed, saying things like, "Wow, he's aggressive!" and "He's really brave!" I'd never been in the water with BJ before, since that had been something that he did with his dad up until now, so I had no idea that he could be such a little fish. Granted, a fish that can't yet paddle across the pool unaided, but give him time!
