Halloween Pics

A huge thank you to my dad for being his usual, excellent, photographer self during their visit! His camera has most or all of the photos from Halloween, pumpkin carving, and the Halloween parade at BJ's preschool -- which is what has taken me a few days to get these posted. Enjoy!

Getting ready for the parade on Friday:

Leading up to Halloween, BB had told me more than once, "Cinderella has blue hands, Mommy!" So clearly having blue gloves was important to her. It was a near thing, getting the gloves on time -- my internet order placed in early September turned into a back order. But they arrived, much to her delight.

On our way to the car to go to preschool. Putting the yellow ribbons on the hat to fully embody "Adjective Girl" was BJ's idea. After all, she has long yellow hair!

With Pop-Pop and Giki at preschool:

As usual, BB was fascinated by the toy kitchen in the classroom. Almost impossible to tear her attention away from it!

Unfortunately, when I was doing a first pass from Dad's pics, I don't seem to have snagged a good shot of BJ's face and closeups of his costume. I think that's mostly because those shots also had other preschool kids in them, and I make it a policy not to post the face of other kids we know on my blog unless I have express permission from the parents to do so.

Anyway, here we are after the parade and the trick-or-treating, headed back to the car:One tired but sweet Cinderella, approaching lunch and then naptime. And me with the ubiquitous and oh-so-utilitarian "fanny pack."
Side note: reason #235,456 that S and I are a good fit. I was complaining recently about the less-than-stylish qualities of said fanny pack, going on at length about how it is unflattering and a far cry from the kind of accessory I would have chosen to wear back in my pre-kid days when I had something approaching a sense of style. (Mostly thrift store chic, granted, but it had its own charm.) His reply: "Are you kidding? It's great! It's like a Mom superhero tool belt!" He mimicked a gunslinger pulling out pistols, saying, "Ya got your cup here, your cup there!" I laughed. Perhaps he has a point!
BJ's "Unpack Your Adjectives Girl" costume was definitely cutest from the back. The addition of the cooking pot on top was his idea. I suggested putting in the turtle friend. Naturally the backpack is full of all the adjectives from the song.

We carved pumpkins on Saturday morning. Lots of fun to share the experience with my folks.

Getting ready to go trick-or-treating. Excited much? And this was before any sugar!
Trick or Treating as a family -- I decided to put on my Ren Faire costume. First year in a long time that S didn't dress up. (There's a pic of the bodice for ya, Miri! The boots for S's costume are still being made to order, which is part of why he didn't dress up.)

Posing for pics at the neighborhood association station. Every year they give out a polaroid, candy, and glow necklaces. Very cool. My dad followed us down the street to take advantage of the great props for another pic.

Thanks again, Dad, for such great pictures! Really appreciate it!
