Playtime Pictures

I haven't been posting as many pictures as usual -- things have been so busy! -- so I have a bit of a backlog. Here are some playtime pics from the last month or so.

One of the best things about the new apartment is that we have space to organize our (many) toys so that they are more available for the kids. This means they can now independently choose to play with things that before were stored away in places that required the assistance of a parent. For example: this wonderful play mat that Giki made for BB.
It's totally adorable -- the cloth is printed with an assortment of Kewpie-type dolls and there are fabric overlays that can be used to change their outfits. Kind of like paper dolls, but with fabric. BB loves it, and now that it is stored in a place she can reach, she has taken it out herself several times to play with it. (Thanks again, Giki!)
Having just moved in to the new apartment, of course there has been no shortage of cardboard boxes. With all the play possibilities therein. Here, the kids were making themselves a nest.

More of the dress-up stuff is now in accessible storage, including some play wigs. So it was only a matter of time before we saw something like this:

(Yes, she's wearing two different wigs, one on top of the other. Purple underneath blue.)

BJ continues to be fascinated with The Human Body (which is the phrase we hear a lot -- as in, "I'm going to draw a picture of The Human Body!" Or, "I want to play The Human Body! You can be a red blood cell and I'll be a white blood cell.") Here, he assembled an assortment of objects to "make" some blood. The purple velvet frog is a white blood cell, which of course is why it is armed with a toy sword. The sword, BJ explained, is the antibody, its "weapon in the fight." (With thanks to TMBG's The Bloodmobile.) I think the cat is a bacteria, doomed to be consumed.

We're at a really fun stage with both the kids right now (most of the time). They are getting better and better at playing together, and their creativity is sparking in ways that continually astonish (and amuse) me. Good times!
