Easter Sweets

We had a very nice Easter Sunday, in spite of the fact that BJ wanted to start the day at 4:15 a.m. Both kids were just too excited about the prospect of a visit from the Easter Bunny!

I'm happy to say that the E.B. did indeed visit (evidence: carrot remains) and we managed to get the kids back to bed until 6 a.m., at which point we celebrated in secular fashion with an egg hunt and lots of sugar.
This year, the Easter Bunny wisely decided to cut down on the amount of plastic, disposable junk in the baskets. (I have it straight from the Bunny's buck-toothed mouth that the plastic eggs were saved last year and re-used this year. It was a frugal, eco-friendly impulse that I don't regret.) Which meant the baskets weren't as stuffed as they might have been in years past, but the kids didn't seem to mind (or even notice). So long as Peeps were involved, they were happy.
I wonder if BJ has been taking notice of my tendency to read food labels -- I swear he was checking out the ingredients on the back of the box!
The kids enjoyed playing with the toy cars the E. B. had left in their baskets, and BB especially enjoyed the coloring pages. (BJ has yet to color his, though he has drawn an Easter game, an Easter egg matching drawing, and other variations on the Easter theme.)
In the afternoon we got some much-needed work done at the old house. We're all but moved out of the house itself, after many trips to the storage unit, and now we only have the garage and cellar to clear out. ("Only" she says. It's gonna be a big job!)

We finished up the day with a yummy ham dinner and more treats from the Easter baskets. For those of you who observe Easter, I hope yours was as sweet as ours!
