First Day

Today was BB's first day of preschool!

We were up at 4:15 a.m. (thank you, 3 hour time difference between the East Coast and West Coast) so we'd had a long morning of anticipation before finally walking over to the preschool together as a family. So nice to stroll over through campus!
We'd made the strategic decision to keep BJ in preschool through the end of July in the hopes that it would help BB adjust, and so far (one day, yes, but still!) it's working brilliantly. He was very excited and proud to drop her off in her classroom, which was the room where he started out last year. I stayed with her through the morning, and she spent most of the time inside sitting on my lap and watching. During circle time, she perked up a bit (though still in my lap) and then when we headed out to the playground, she clearly was feeling more comfortable.

We played in the sandbox, swung on the swings, and then when BJ's class came out for playground time he came right over to us and started telling all his friends about how it was his little sister's first day at preschool. Very, very sweet. He and his friends ended up playing hide and seek with BB for quite some time. He was thoroughly fine when I had to go in with BB's class for lunch -- how far he's come from those early, clingy days of adjusting to school! BB and I left right after lunchtime so she could come home for her nap (which was, predictably, a long one) and then S picked up BJ from school after his rest time. Then we all celebrated the day with ice cream at our favorite sweet treat shop.

My little girl is sure growing up! And my little boy too. Bittersweet -- though mostly sweet. I'm so very proud of both of them.

SOOO cute. It was really nice to see them today despite everything. I should have brought my CSET book and taken notes during my anatomy lesson, though!
