(Deep breath.)
We've been super busy over here in Mama's Magic Land... just got back from a very nice visit to Nana J's down in Southern CA. I promise a fun-filled post on that soon, with lots of pics from our visits to the Pasadena Children's Museum, the La Brea Tar Pits and the Santa Monica Pier!
And before we went on vacation, we were doing all sorts of stuff:
Celebrating BJ's last day of preschool with a trip to our favorite ice cream shoppe!
Hanging out in the shade and enjoying the sunshine... one afternoon, BB toted her chair up under the tree outside our apartment while my back was turned, and I found her here, utterly content:
Participating in my first-ever Etsy Panel at the Etsy Meet Up in San Francisco. (I was the "voice of community organizing" in my capacity as the SF Etsy team leader. Exciting!) Didn't manage to get a pic, since I was so busy participating, but rumor has it that one of our excellent SF Etsy peeps might be sending one my way. I'll update if that happens!
Listening to my darling daughter sing me wonderful songs, like this one! (She insisted on singing it for the video so I would have it forever. The theme is "I will always love you -- even when you're gone, I'll love you!" All together now -- awwwww! And yes, you can tell she's been hearing that a lot as we try to help her adjust to preschool.)
Attending a Pump it Up Bounce House Party to celebrate a preschool friend's 5th birthday. I remember when BB wanted NOTHING to do with a bounce house -- not any more!
And, coming in last but winning the "It Will Be Funny Later, When We Think Back On This" award -- doing damage control on BJ's hair -- a few days after getting his very cute Back To School Haircut (see pic above at the ice cream parlor) he decided to experiment with the safety scissors and started a reverse mohawk during rest time. (Sigh.) I was furious but trying not to laugh as I took the picture -- and as these two pics show, he too was conflicted about how to feel. Highly amused or thoroughly mortified?
Yes, he did get all the way down to the scalp! So we cropped it down as best we could and carried on. (Pic taken at the bday party above!)
So things have been pretty good around here. The house is under contract (again -- our first buyer bailed when they got cold feet; fingers crossed that this one comes through! I was told there were tears of joy when she was informed we accepted her offer, so that has to be a good sign, right?) Not to mention that I was very happy to read the excellent news about Prop 8 being overturned yesterday. I was so happy about that, today I finally tracked down an organization where I could donate funds to help with the fight towards marriage equality, something I'd been meaning to do since our anniversary.
In short, life is good. Even if I haven't been putting in the blog posts to record it! Now that we're done with our summer travels, things should settle down enough for me to post more regularly. Yay for that!
